Love much & love well.

Alls I'm sayin' is... in three days, we're all going to be hugging and chatting and moving all our stuff into Windy Gap for three--as Roy would say--"fanfreakintastic" weeks together!!!

Praying for y'all...one of my favorite prayers is from The Message translation of Philippians 1:9: "love much and love well."  His Spirit will enable us to do this in community with one another and to high school students from all around the country who will come to Windy Gap for the BEST WEEK OF THEIR LIVES!!!

Three days... I can't wait!

HELLO!

HI! I'm McKenna Ferguson. I'm from a suburb south of Denver, Colorado. I've grown up in the rocky mountains, skiing and hiking mostly. So far I only have five 14ers under my belt but I'm going for the 54 (all the ones in the state of colorado). I enjoy anything that has to do with being outside. I'm a sophomore at Fort Lewis College, a small liberal arts college in the small mountain town of Durango, Co. I'm double majoring in English and Philosophy, I'm going to be a writer after I do some overseas volunteering for a couple years. I'm a pretty shy person even though I try my hardest not to be. At least now I don't turn the color of my hair like I did in middle school whenever someone said a word to me. I love books and bright colors and thai food and watching clouds. I really like listening to people's stories and arguing about philosophical ideas that no one can solve. I work at a little organic coffee shop making lattes better than anything Starbucks can dish out. :)

I've been a Christian for three years now, thanks to Younglife. I'd gone to Frontier Ranch and Crooked Creek a few times before but hadn't been ready to take the big step to committing my life to Christ. To me Younglife was just a place where I could chill with all of my friends. I went to work crew out at Lost Canyon in Arizona the summer of 2006 and it changed my life. Completely. Last summer I went to work crew at Malibu Club up in Canada. I am beyond excited/stoked/ready for this upcoming month. I can't wait to completely give up my own agenda for a month and just let Christ work through me.

Hello Hello Hello!

Hey ya'll My name is Anna Slagle. I'm from Marietta, GA...right outside Atl. I've lived here my whole life. I have an older brother who goes to UGA and black lab puppy! Plus to loving parents. I'm a very upbeat silly person. I laugh a lot sometimes even when it's not the best time. Also, tend to laugh when I'm nervous!

I am entering my second year at JSU! I love it and am glad I can finally live in a small town! I am a Phi Mu , an Ambassador on Jr. Panahallinc, part of Take Lead, as well as college Republicans! My first year was fantastic. I am an early childhood education major! However, my job this summer has made me very interested in sales & marketing. I spend my free time running around town and just playing with my friends. My school doesn't have younglife but i still try to stay involved as much as possible. However, we do have wesley and i love it.

For Fun i enjoy going to the pool, being silly. Going to dinner with my friends. I really enjoy painting and nascar! CARL EDWARDS! :] i love to read and hike and camp. When it comes to trying new things, i'll try anything once. Not food though...lol. I'm a really picky eater! But anyways. Thats my life in a nutshell...kinda.

I look forward to meeting everybody and spending a whole month with ya'll! :]

What's up.. I'm Roy

Hey guys! I'm Roy and I am from Katy, TX (a little west of Houston). I am super excited about this summer and can't wait to meet you all in person. I didn't have much involvement in Young Life in high school and was a last minute camp sign-up the summer after my senior year, which was the best decision I have ever made. After camp, I couldn't get enough of YL and started leadership at Texas Tech that fall. I never became a leader at Tech but I did do summer staff at CCR summer of '08 which was pretty fanfreakintastic. I transferred to Texas A&M where I am going to be a junior biological engineering major… WHOOP!! I am currently a leader at Brenham High School and can't wait to bring my guys to camp.

Over my past couple of years I believe that God is leading me to go on fulltime staff with YL and has been doing awesome things in my life to show me where and what he wants me to do.
I am a pretty outgoing person and love to do any kind of outdoor activity, especially any kind of sport. I look forward to tossing the Frisbee around and can’t wait to give my life away for three weeks. It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait until I can finally meet yall face to face!

Hi I'm a Andy....and your a Mac or PC

Hey Everybody,

My name is Andy Westbrook, I am from Knoxville, TN just a couple hours west of Windy Gap. I have lived there all my life and currently go to the University of Tennessee. I am going into my Senior year there, but it won't be my last, I'll be taking a victory lap to finish up my major. I'm studying Civil Engineering there in hopes to maybe do some kind of construction work, if not work on Young Life Property Staff. The past 3 years have probably been my best times with God. Each year I learn something new, a kind of a new theme of the year. Freshman year I dealt with learning a lot about callings...This mostly came about when I was going through Qu.e.s.t, there after praying I knew God wasn't calling me to be a leader yet, but he was still calling me to YL. So I'm still not currently a YL leader but try to stay pretty involved whether it be traveling to help out at Rockbridge or help the Knoxville areas some how. Last summer I spent some time up in Goshen, VA at Rockbridge Alum Springs. It was probably so far one of the highlights of my life. I'm sure you'll hear about it some. But there I learned the importance of christian community and that has been something i've been focusing on since. How to you build it? Why we need it? Why it works? I say all this because I'm giving a talk about in next week and I could really use the prayer!

When I'm not studying I try to keep myself fairly busy (I hate being bored or alone doing nothing). I volunteer at my home church running sound and lights for a college service and Sunday morning services. I also enjoy hiking and just being outdoors in the fresh air, while I've always done a lot of sports photography, recently I've gotten into landscape and nature photography. On nice days I love to go out and play golf, Frisbee golf, or ultimate. I just recently started working on a leadership team with our church to help form a new type of college ministry that I'm thrilled about, but sad that I'll miss most the planning while serving at Windy Gap. But Probably one of my favorite things to do in life is sit around and just talk with friends, especially when you laugh a lot.

I'm so excited to be back on a YL camp. I haven't been to Windy Gap since 6th grade in 2000, it was there on a bench near the water front I accepted Chrsit. I can't wait to serve with you all.

The picture of me is from my vacation with the family this summer in Zion National Park, hiking Angels Landing. I also have a pretty unique video, my roommates and I got bored and decided to see how long i could ride in the dryer. I added a some music and effects to it...I mean why wouldn't I its cooler, and I have to practice for being the Video Summer Staff.

Andy!!!

btw....you can follow me on twitter...yeah! its the new facebook...100% cooler and better

Hi!!!

Hey yall!

I'm Casey Muhs and I'm from the NW Houston Area (Klein High School), but just finished my freshman year at the University of Texas in Austin. I've been pretty involved with Young Life since my freshman year of high school and it has had a huge impact on my relationship with Christ. I am a leader now in the west Austin area at Westlake High School and it's amazing!

At Windy Gap I'll be working in the office. I've never been to Windy Gap but had a friend who did work crew there last summer and is obsessed with it! So I can't wait! I was on work crew at Crooked Creek last summer as a tawashi and it was one of the best months of my life and I made some best friend there. And I'm sure it won't be any different at Windy Gap. So I can't wait to meet you all! :]

Casey

Hey there it's Nicki!

Hi fellow summer staffers =) I liked reading about everyone who already posted. I finally figured out this blog thing, so now I'll post. I couldn't figure out how to space the pics as you can tell... ( ps, I'm not tech savvy!!!)

My full name is Nicolina Raimondo, but I've gone by Nicki since I was a bebe. (Name is Italian..its my great-grandmothers!) I was born and raised on the outskirts of Houston in a city called Richmond. I go to University of Houston, studying Public Relations with only 1.5 years left. wha-hooo! I work part-time in a neighborhood in Sugar Land planning events and coordinating residents with the Community Coordinator through a Non-profit organization, and I love it! I am also a "babysitting machine" as one of y'all said earlier. I am also a YL leader at a private school since Jan. in the West Houston Area. I actually just got back yesterday from Frontier with my area! I had one of the 'best weeks of my life!' (see above pics! I'm on the right) YL is still pretty new to me, I didn't like it in HS. It has become a huge part of my life and I love what God does through this ministry. I go to a multi-ethnic church and I LOVE it there! It's truly is a taste of what I think the Kingdom of Heaven will look like =)

I just love having fun times and laughing with friends and family. New places and experiences excite me. I have a passion for the Latin American community and hope to serve God somehow in a Latin American country for a long period of time once I graduate.

God has taught me so much in that past 2 years of my life being in college. It's been 5 years since I became a Christian and let Jesus take control of my life, but I've just recently fallen in love with my Creator. God has revealed to me what His grace is in hard times during the past couple years and I now know the reality that life is so empty apart from Him!

I'm sooo excited for this summer at Windy Gap. It will be my first time there and I hear it's beautiful!

Can't wait to meet you guyssssss =)=)

Much Love, Nicki
