Hello Hello Hello!

Hey ya'll My name is Anna Slagle. I'm from Marietta, GA...right outside Atl. I've lived here my whole life. I have an older brother who goes to UGA and black lab puppy! Plus to loving parents. I'm a very upbeat silly person. I laugh a lot sometimes even when it's not the best time. Also, tend to laugh when I'm nervous!

I am entering my second year at JSU! I love it and am glad I can finally live in a small town! I am a Phi Mu , an Ambassador on Jr. Panahallinc, part of Take Lead, as well as college Republicans! My first year was fantastic. I am an early childhood education major! However, my job this summer has made me very interested in sales & marketing. I spend my free time running around town and just playing with my friends. My school doesn't have younglife but i still try to stay involved as much as possible. However, we do have wesley and i love it.

For Fun i enjoy going to the pool, being silly. Going to dinner with my friends. I really enjoy painting and nascar! CARL EDWARDS! :] i love to read and hike and camp. When it comes to trying new things, i'll try anything once. Not food though...lol. I'm a really picky eater! But anyways. Thats my life in a nutshell...kinda.

I look forward to meeting everybody and spending a whole month with ya'll! :]

What's up.. I'm Roy

Hey guys! I'm Roy and I am from Katy, TX (a little west of Houston). I am super excited about this summer and can't wait to meet you all in person. I didn't have much involvement in Young Life in high school and was a last minute camp sign-up the summer after my senior year, which was the best decision I have ever made. After camp, I couldn't get enough of YL and started leadership at Texas Tech that fall. I never became a leader at Tech but I did do summer staff at CCR summer of '08 which was pretty fanfreakintastic. I transferred to Texas A&M where I am going to be a junior biological engineering major… WHOOP!! I am currently a leader at Brenham High School and can't wait to bring my guys to camp.

Over my past couple of years I believe that God is leading me to go on fulltime staff with YL and has been doing awesome things in my life to show me where and what he wants me to do.
I am a pretty outgoing person and love to do any kind of outdoor activity, especially any kind of sport. I look forward to tossing the Frisbee around and can’t wait to give my life away for three weeks. It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait until I can finally meet yall face to face!

Hi I'm a Andy....and your a Mac or PC

Hey Everybody,

My name is Andy Westbrook, I am from Knoxville, TN just a couple hours west of Windy Gap. I have lived there all my life and currently go to the University of Tennessee. I am going into my Senior year there, but it won't be my last, I'll be taking a victory lap to finish up my major. I'm studying Civil Engineering there in hopes to maybe do some kind of construction work, if not work on Young Life Property Staff. The past 3 years have probably been my best times with God. Each year I learn something new, a kind of a new theme of the year. Freshman year I dealt with learning a lot about callings...This mostly came about when I was going through Qu.e.s.t, there after praying I knew God wasn't calling me to be a leader yet, but he was still calling me to YL. So I'm still not currently a YL leader but try to stay pretty involved whether it be traveling to help out at Rockbridge or help the Knoxville areas some how. Last summer I spent some time up in Goshen, VA at Rockbridge Alum Springs. It was probably so far one of the highlights of my life. I'm sure you'll hear about it some. But there I learned the importance of christian community and that has been something i've been focusing on since. How to you build it? Why we need it? Why it works? I say all this because I'm giving a talk about in next week and I could really use the prayer!

When I'm not studying I try to keep myself fairly busy (I hate being bored or alone doing nothing). I volunteer at my home church running sound and lights for a college service and Sunday morning services. I also enjoy hiking and just being outdoors in the fresh air, while I've always done a lot of sports photography, recently I've gotten into landscape and nature photography. On nice days I love to go out and play golf, Frisbee golf, or ultimate. I just recently started working on a leadership team with our church to help form a new type of college ministry that I'm thrilled about, but sad that I'll miss most the planning while serving at Windy Gap. But Probably one of my favorite things to do in life is sit around and just talk with friends, especially when you laugh a lot.

I'm so excited to be back on a YL camp. I haven't been to Windy Gap since 6th grade in 2000, it was there on a bench near the water front I accepted Chrsit. I can't wait to serve with you all.

The picture of me is from my vacation with the family this summer in Zion National Park, hiking Angels Landing. I also have a pretty unique video, my roommates and I got bored and decided to see how long i could ride in the dryer. I added a some music and effects to it...I mean why wouldn't I its cooler, and I have to practice for being the Video Summer Staff.

Andy!!!

btw....you can follow me on twitter...yeah! its the new facebook...100% cooler and better

Hi!!!

Hey yall!

I'm Casey Muhs and I'm from the NW Houston Area (Klein High School), but just finished my freshman year at the University of Texas in Austin. I've been pretty involved with Young Life since my freshman year of high school and it has had a huge impact on my relationship with Christ. I am a leader now in the west Austin area at Westlake High School and it's amazing!

At Windy Gap I'll be working in the office. I've never been to Windy Gap but had a friend who did work crew there last summer and is obsessed with it! So I can't wait! I was on work crew at Crooked Creek last summer as a tawashi and it was one of the best months of my life and I made some best friend there. And I'm sure it won't be any different at Windy Gap. So I can't wait to meet you all! :]

Casey

Hey there it's Nicki!

Hi fellow summer staffers =) I liked reading about everyone who already posted. I finally figured out this blog thing, so now I'll post. I couldn't figure out how to space the pics as you can tell... ( ps, I'm not tech savvy!!!)

My full name is Nicolina Raimondo, but I've gone by Nicki since I was a bebe. (Name is Italian..its my great-grandmothers!) I was born and raised on the outskirts of Houston in a city called Richmond. I go to University of Houston, studying Public Relations with only 1.5 years left. wha-hooo! I work part-time in a neighborhood in Sugar Land planning events and coordinating residents with the Community Coordinator through a Non-profit organization, and I love it! I am also a "babysitting machine" as one of y'all said earlier. I am also a YL leader at a private school since Jan. in the West Houston Area. I actually just got back yesterday from Frontier with my area! I had one of the 'best weeks of my life!' (see above pics! I'm on the right) YL is still pretty new to me, I didn't like it in HS. It has become a huge part of my life and I love what God does through this ministry. I go to a multi-ethnic church and I LOVE it there! It's truly is a taste of what I think the Kingdom of Heaven will look like =)

I just love having fun times and laughing with friends and family. New places and experiences excite me. I have a passion for the Latin American community and hope to serve God somehow in a Latin American country for a long period of time once I graduate.

God has taught me so much in that past 2 years of my life being in college. It's been 5 years since I became a Christian and let Jesus take control of my life, but I've just recently fallen in love with my Creator. God has revealed to me what His grace is in hard times during the past couple years and I now know the reality that life is so empty apart from Him!

I'm sooo excited for this summer at Windy Gap. It will be my first time there and I hear it's beautiful!

Can't wait to meet you guyssssss =)=)

Much Love, Nicki

Hello :]

Hello,
I am Kaycin-Ashley, but everyone just called me Kaycin. I am half Moroccan on my dad's side and I live in Virginia with my mother. I go to Roanoke College and it is absolutely the greatest school ever! The Lord has placed a lot of wonderful people in my life these past few years and I couldn't ask for better fellowship. I am very excited about getting to know my fellow Summer Staff Session 3 people :) I know that the Lord is going to do a lot in everyone's life and I am very very excited to be a part of it!
I work a lot at my job right now on Campus so that pretty much takes up a lot of my time. Though I love to hang out with friends & just live a life daily for Christ. There is no better feeling than that :)
If you wanna know anything else don't be afraid to ask :)!

Jesus said, "Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
John 13:35 :)

Hey-o!!! So I'm Liza...

Hey everybody!

I'm Elizabeth Matthews, b
ut everyone nowadays calls me Liza! I live in a little town called Mount Airy aka Mayberry( Home of Andy Griffith!) in good ole' North Carolina. I will be a sophomore at Surry Community College and plan on transfering to a university for my junior and senior year. I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in, but possibly biology (I love science).

I am a HUGE fan of the t.v. show Lost and I love movies and music. I'm a lifeguard so I spend my summer days by the pool. I really love to hang out with my friends and just laugh and be silly- there is nothing better than that! I enjoy reading a good book and a good cup of coffee. I'm not currently a YL leader, but I'm going to start at my alma mater-Mount Airy High in the fall and I can't wait!

My first year of college was a tough and challenging in several ways, but it helped me grow closer to Jesus and helped me to realize that I need him in every aspect of my life. It is so awesome to see how Jesus loves me, in both good times and bad. The past few summers I have always been a camper at a YL camp and I am so ready to be on the other side of things, serving the Lord and those kids who are going to be in the same position I was in a few years ago! I can't wait to grow deeper in my relationship with Jesus at WG and see what he has in store for us all! Can't wait to meet y'all and I hope everyone has a great summer leading up to Windy Gap. Until then....Peace Out!

-Liza :)

Here's a silly picture of me at Sharp Top Cove, and a nicer, cleaner one!

Hedges

Hey what's up Summer staff...?... well lets see here my name is Andrew Hedges but everyone just calls me Hedges, I grew up in Country Music USA  A.K.A. Nashville, TN. It's a great town, as some of you Belmont folks have experienced first hand, and for the rest of you guys who have never been to the 615 you should plan to visit at some point. I Go to College at UT-Chattanooga, Home of the Fighting Mocs. We arn't good at really any sports aside from Wrestling and Golf. I am A P.E. Major and I'll be a senior next fall. I'm currently in the process of raising funds for Student staff, that has been the most recent development for me this summer. I am a leader at Ooltewah high school here in Chatt. It's a huge place, right at 2000 students. I'll be taking 8 of my boys to WG in about 2 weeks and I can't wait to see what God is going to do in my friends lives, if you remember please be praying for us.  Ummm lets see some signature things about me, I like to wear headbands, I like to have different styles of facial hair on a pretty regular basis, I love playing Frisbee Golf. I also love spending my summers on Young Life property, This will be my 4th summer spent at a Young Life camp, and it truly has been a time of growth and rest. (spiritually) I like to use Summer staff as a time to gear up of the upcoming school year. I've spent time at Frontier, Southwind, and Malibu. I put some pictures up from some of these places. Finally, what's going on with me and JC these days, well we've been boys for about 4 years not, I actually became tight with him at WG and ever sense then it's been an adventure. I'm just trying to trust him with more and more of my life. I think that's about all I got except to say that I am looking forward to meeting you all and spending a month working along side of you.

-Hedges

well hello there...

Hey guys, I'm Kerri Styne. I'm from a little itty-bitty town called Riner in southwest Virginia(and by itty-bitty i mean it, my graduating class in high school was 63). It's about 3o minutes from Virgina Tech, which is where I go. I'm a Mechanical Engineering major and my plan has always been to work on the safety features of cars(crash tests, air bags, seat belts, etc.) once i get my degree.

now a little about me...I'm pretty country...hic or redneck might fit better. I live on a huge farm where we raise beef cattle, a little over 200 cows an then there's calves and bulls too, we have a little over 1,000 acres nested in the blue ridge mountians which i would not trade for anything! i love 4-wheelin, and muddin, riding horses, target shooting, working on the tractor, building campfires, and taking apart or building thing that were probably never intened to done. i have a knack for fixing almost anything, which is typically pretty useful.

I'm trying to lead WyldLife. I know that sounds weird, but the school I "lead" at doesn't have a club or anything based yet. so my 2 teammates and I have been given the task of starting it up! which has proven to be pretty difficult so far. I had an amazing first year in college, i grew so much with the Lord. now that i'm home away from all my friends, its been a pretty rough summer so far. the friends i do have here don't really know the Lord, and i never have time to see them because i'm working 30+ hours a week at Tractor Supply. its been a real challenge so far but i know the Lord is giving me a great lesson through it. i can't wait to be at Windy Gap with you all and get to grow even more!!!

Kerri

and here are a few hic examples :-)

Emily G. Lambert/Langston

Yo yo yooooo. My name is Emily. Legally my last name is Lambert, but I prefer to go by Langston. That is a semi-long story that you will more than likely end up hearing during our month together.

I live in beautiful Augusta, Georgia (the city that never sleeps, the city of lights, the gateway to the west, etc.) and I am about to be a sophomore at Augusta State University. I am a Young Life leader for a magical place called Westside High School and I freaking love it.

I love Harry Potter. The previous sentence is an understatement. It should read: I have traveled to three Harry Potter conventions (in Toronto, Chicago, and Boston) and various wizard rock (please do not ask me to explain it) shows in my life... note it, accept it, and embrace it. I am kind of a nerd. And now that you have noted, accepted, and embraced that-- I am also a suburban rapper (myspace.com/smellslikenew) and I shoot, edit, and co-write videos with a few of my best friends:

I love movies, I am a film major, I almost always rather be outdoors, I love sweet tea, etc. Also, I have several signature poses (one can be seen below).

Jesus is my "BFF" and I love living according to the Notorious G-O-D. Life is hard and it took me a really long time to understand that no matter how rough times are, God is always right there, loving you. I can't wait to grow stronger in my relationship with God and see what He has in store for all of us next month. =) SEE YOU SOON.

Sincerely,
Emily G. Whatever

Baird...yeah, its a weird name...

Hey guys!

I'm Baird Blackley. Baird is pronounced like the animal-Bear, but with a D on the end. (But obviously not spelled that way, because that would be beard...)

I am originally from Shelby, NC-a small town in western NC. I am currently in Greenville, NC and am entering my senior year of school at East Carolina University. I am a Family and Community Services major and DO NOT know what I want to be doing at this point next year. haha. I am a Young Life leader at South Central High School here in Greenville. I am also babysitting machine---my days are pretty much made up of class, babysitting, and Young Life. :)

I enjoy being outdoors and would love to just play outside all day long! I love hiking, kayaking, running, water sports, frisbee--really anything active.

I am excited to come to the good old WG in just 5 weeks! I know Summer Staff will challenge me to grow in my relationship with the Lord-and I look forward to that. I have been able to see God working in my life this summer through relationships and time with my Young Life girls. A challenge in my life allowing time for the Lord to use me. I tend to pack my schedule full, so I know that I limit myself in my ability to serve at times.

I am so so so excited to meet you all and escape to Windy Gap and serve for 3 weeks!

This is me on a hiking/kayaking/caving/rock climbing trip I went on last year.

oh, and I have my own blog that I sometimes remember to update. :) Feel free to check it out... http://marthabaird.blogspot.com/
